Dahlia Schweitzer's first album for the Electric Label, PLASTIQUE, is out now. Recorded in London, Paris, Berlin, Milan, New York and Chicago, and co-produced by Jude Rawlins, the album showcases the eclectic New Yorker's lyrical ability and bohemian credentials, at the same time being, quite easily, the most exciting electro pop album of the year. The CD includes the stunning video for the single "Plastique", shot in Milan, and featuring the real Italian weather, a private disco in the back of a van, and a solid gold toilet. MUMMYSMACK - Debut Album Currently shaking the foundations of an Exeter recording studio are MUMMYSMACK. Work is continuing on the much anticipated debut album. Apparently its sounding pretty hot, so watch this space DAHLIA SCHWEITZER - UK Shows Dahlia has two gigs in London later this month. Her current itinery looks like this: 7 May - BERLIN Sage Club THE MOTHER BAR, 333 Old Street EC1 Tube: Old Street, Buses: 274 (Archway-Liverpool Street; via Kentish Town, Camden Town, Kings Cross, Clerkenwell, City) NEW DRUIDS - The Live CD Recorded in New Jersey during their US tour last year, New Druids' latest offering, simply titled THE LIVE CD, serves up material new and old from this unmissable live act. We've been after the Druids for years, ever since the night we saw them demolish the Kashmir Klub with a stunning version of "Well Below The Valley". Welcome Colum and Kerry! "In here is where the sun shines, in here is where the birds sing..." - E.M. Forster Welcome to the new
website. No fanfare. No ceremony. Launch parties are for
losers. They say "in yer face", "cutting
edge"... Yada yada yada, as Herman Brood said. Go
back to your wine bars and prepare for your audit. This
is real. This is happening without your permission. To
paraphrase Albert Camus, great art is prepared within the
silence of the heart. Now arriving at Platform Electric... Two new signings, Dahlia Schweitzer and Mummysmack. Dahlia hails from New York, and is something of a sensation on the European electronica scene. From her base in Berlin she is turning partying into an artform, and sensual electronica on its head. Mummysmack are the Westcountry's most intelligent rock outfit, and when we say rock we mean we heard them coming all the way from Exeter. They have the energy, but unlike many of their contemporaries, they also have the material. Fran Apprich's stunning new album ICH is something to behold. Her first material in her native German, the album is a beautiful exploration of sensual vocals and ethereal piano, and can not be missed. See the artists page for more information and links. |
